Mastering

We finish stereo mixes for streaming, download, and vinyl — with measured loudness targets, sensible file naming, and delivery formats explained clearly from our Vienna suite.

Mastering desk with full-range speakers and vinyl test pressings.

Mastering at Noelpulse is context work: how does your mix translate on earbuds, in a car, next to a reference on a streaming app? In the mastering room we listen on full-range monitors, note target LUFS, and deliver versions that match your release plan.

Send stereo mixes (WAV or AIFF), platform goals, and loudness wishes; mention vinyl prep if needed. File formats and naming are covered in the guide to mastering delivery formats. Legal scope: terms and conditions and disclaimer. Rates current as of 15 October 2026.

Workflow

  1. Upload

Stereo mix plus sample rate and headroom notes via secure link or drive. Short form for platform and references.

  2. Analysis

We check level, phase, sibilance, and loudness, and flag technical issues before the first master.

  3. Master

EQ, dynamics, limiting, and sequencing as agreed — with documented target values.

  4. Approval

You review via link; up to 2 revision rounds, then final export and naming.

When mastering helps

When the mix is done and you are ready to release — single, EP, album, or instrumental project. Mastering balances album tracks, sets fades, and prepares files for distributors or pressing plants. If the mix still has balance, noise, or clipping problems, we suggest mixing or mix fixes first and say so plainly.

Streaming, download, vinyl

Streaming masters target platform-typical loudness without unnecessary brickwall limiting. Download stores may allow slightly different peak headroom. Vinyl often needs less centred bass energy and gentler highs — say so upfront for a vinyl-safe version or a dedicated master.

  • Streaming: documented integrated LUFS and true peak
  • Download: 24-bit WAV/FLAC with your ISRC naming scheme
  • Vinyl: longer fades, conservative limiting — on request

Prepare your mixes

Send uncompressed stereo files with at least −6 dBFS peak headroom, without a bus limiter you cannot remove. State sample rate, bit depth, and whether the mix was already normalised. Reference tracks help — use only material you may reference legally.

Timeline

After intake we confirm delivery time — usually a few business days per track, albums by scope. Rush only when capacity allows, priced in the quote. Replies within 2 business days.

Each file gets technical QC (DC offset, clicks, low-end mono compatibility). We discuss issues before masking them. If your mix needs repair beyond mastering scope, we say so in writing so you can fix the mix or book mixing time instead of paying for repeated masters.

Revisions

2 revision rounds on the delivered master are included — specific notes (e.g. “less top end”, “0.5 dB quieter”), not vague mood boards. Extra rounds or a new master after you change the mix are billed separately. A revised mix file is effectively a new job.

We do not promise chart placement or algorithm boosts; we deliver technically sound results to your brief.

Pricing

Prices include 20% VAT. Net example single: €100.

Mastering rates
ServiceScopePrice incl. VAT

More than 12 tracks or DDP authoring: quoted separately. Deposit 30% on larger packages; B2B terms 14 days — terms.

Delivery and archive

Final WAV (and MP3 preview on request), loudness notes, and agreed file names. Download delivery; physical media by arrangement. Projects archived 24 months, then deleted — store masters locally.

Stem remastering or “just fix clipping” without artistic decisions is not full mastering and is not offered as such.

Studio and contact

Mastering runs at our Vienna suite (Stapelgasse 8, 1050 Wien). Noelpulse GmbH, UID ATU75942303. Technical lead: Lukas Berger. Office hours: Mon–Fri 10–19, Sat by appointment — phone.

Upload privacy: privacy policy. All services: services. Vocals before the mix: vocal recording.

Metadata, ISRC, and DDP

We do not embed ISRCs unless you supply a per-track list. File names can follow your distributor scheme (e.g. 01_Title_Master.wav) when you send the pattern. CD pressing may need a DDP package with PQ sheet and timings — quoted separately, not in the album base price.

Vinyl masters need agreed side length and gaps so cutting stays feasible. Streaming metadata (titles, clean/explicit versions) lives with your aggregator; we deliver matching audio. We clarify naming before the first export so your 2 revision rounds are not spent on rename ping-pong.

Included

  • Technical analysis of the stereo mix
  • Master for agreed target platform
  • Documented loudness readings
  • 2 revision rounds
  • Final WAV export
  • Download link
  • Archive 24 months

Questions & answers

Do I need 24-bit mixes?

24-bit is recommended; 16-bit is accepted if clean. Avoid MP3 as a master source except as a last resort — quality loss is audible on streaming platforms.

Can you just make it louder?

We adjust loudness to your reference without forcing artifacts. If the mix is already at its limit, we discuss options instead of blind limiting.

How is this different from mixing?

Mixing works on stems and shapes balance and colour. Mastering works on the finished stereo mix for release — separate steps and prices.

Do you supply DDP for CD?

DDP is not in the album base price. We quote authoring and PQ lists on request.

What if I revise the mix after mastering?

Send the new mix for a new master pass. The included 2 rounds apply to the same mix file.
