Mixing

We shape your multitrack sessions into balanced, punchy mixes — with traceable choices, agreed references, and deliveries that slot straight into mastering or your own DAW.

Engineer mixing at the console with monitors in the room.

A mix decides whether listeners catch your melody, lyrics, and groove — or whether tracks disappear in the mud. At Noelpulse in Wien we do not run a one-size-fits-all chain; we follow your arrangement: vocal placement, drum space, and which guitar layers carry the harmony.

Send stems from your home setup, material from a rehearsal recording in our 42 m² live room, or vocals after a vocal session. Or mix with us on site when you still want overdubs or several songs reviewed in one day.

Workflow

  1. Brief

You send stems or the session, tempo and key, two or three reference tracks, and what should sit upfront in the mix. We usually reply within 2 business days with questions or a schedule.

  2. Intake

We check track names, phase, clipping, and headroom. Missing files or wrong start points are cleared before mixing starts — that keeps revisions focused.

  3. Mix and notes

First mix draft on an agreed timeline. You listen on headphones or monitors and send concrete notes: louder/quieter, more presence, less reverb on the snare. Up to 2 revision rounds are included in the per-track online price.

  4. Delivery

Final stereo mixes plus optional grouped stems (drums, bass, vocals, FX). Files via secure download; project backups stay 24 months on our systems, then deletion per our privacy policy.

Who this service is for

Singer-songwriters balancing acoustic guitar and voice after vocal recording. Bands that tracked in the rehearsal room and need drum punch and depth. Producers merging beats and live elements without the kick swallowing the bass. Teams releasing an EP who want a coherent tone without re-explaining every song.

If takes or arrangement still feel unfinished, a recording or production session may come first. We say that plainly so your budget goes into results, not rescue work.

Remote mix vs studio time

Remote mixing: export WAV stems (24-bit, 48 kHz, all from bar zero). We work async; feedback by email or phone (+43 1 546 78 90). The per-track flat rate is €280 including 20% VAT, covering the workflow and 2 revision rounds.

Studio hours (€85) suit live listening, A/B references, or swapping tracks during the session. You book blocks; an engineer stays at the desk. Hours: Monday to Friday 10:00–19:00, Saturday by appointment 11:00–16:00, closed Sunday..

The EP package (€890, up to six tracks) aligns several songs under one sonic goal — useful when release order and vocal presence should feel consistent. Scope is confirmed via our contact form before booking.

What to prepare before upload

Name tracks clearly: Kick, Snare_Top, Vox_Lead instead of Audio 47. Export without master-bus limiting on individual tracks unless agreed otherwise. Include a rough mix MP3 or reference link so we understand intent — not to clone it, but to place balance and energy.

  • All tracks from the same start point (sample-accurate)
  • Tempo, time signature, and key in a short readme
  • Notes on planned fade-outs or crossfades
  • Flag deliberately rough takes you do not want polished away

How we work on your session

We start with gain staging and routing: buses for drums, bass, harmony, vocals, effects. Dynamics land where they help musically — not on every track by default. EQ moves stay traceable so revisions stay targeted.

Parallel compression, send reverbs and delays, sidechain ducking — all as the song needs. Vocals get de-essing checked on several playback systems. Electronic productions get mono compatibility and sub-bass checks on small speakers.

When you attend in studio, we switch between nearfields and headphones so you quickly hear if a BGV sits too far back or the snare has too much 3–5 kHz.

Delivery formats and mastering handoff

Default delivery: stereo WAV 24-bit / 48 kHz with headroom for mastering (typically −6 dBFS peak, no brickwall limiter on the mixdown). 44.1 kHz or 96 kHz on request — please specify upfront.

Optionally we deliver stem groups (e.g. drums+perc, bass, guitars/keys, lead vox, BGV, FX) for remixes or instrumentals. Stem exports are included when agreed at brief; very large stem counts may add effort — we quote transparently.

We can attach a quiet reference MP3 for streaming previews. That is not mastering; platform loudness targets belong in mastering.

Revisions, timing, and communication

Each online track includes 2 feedback rounds after the first draft. Bundle notes per round (e.g. “chorus guitar −1 dB, lead vocal drier”) so we stay efficient. Extra rounds are available at hourly rates or add-on blocks.

Typical turnaround for one song: about five to ten business days after complete material, depending on track count and studio load. Rush slots are sometimes possible — ask via [email protected] or +43 1 546 78 90.

Studio bookings require a 30% deposit per our terms and conditions; free cancellation up to 5 days before the date under the rules listed there.

What mixing does not cover

New recording, heavy editing (every snare hit timed, full-take pitch correction), beat production from scratch, or music licensing are outside mixing. Pre-mix editing can be quoted separately — just ask.

Streaming, vinyl, or broadcast mastering is a separate service (mastering). We deliver mixdowns ready for that step, not platform-loud masters unless explicitly booked.

Archives beyond 24 months, physical media shipping, or courier express goes to the client unless agreed otherwise. See terms and FAQ for more.

Questions & answers

How many tracks can I send?

Typical projects carry 24 to 48 tracks per song. More is possible but may extend the schedule. In our guide and at brief we decide whether bus stems beat dozens of mono files.

Can I attend the mix?

Yes — book studio hours (€85) or pair a remote mix with a listening session on site at Stapelgasse 8, 1050 Wien. Directions: Take U4 to Pilgramgasse, then walk about 7 minutes via Rechte Wienzeile toward Stapelgasse. Alternatively tram 6 or 18 to Margaretengürtel / Kettenbrückengasse, then a short walk..

Do you mix in Atmos or surround?

Our focus is stereo mix and stem groups for music and podcast beds. Special formats are discussed individually via contact.

What happens after included revisions?

Further changes are billed transparently, often as extra studio time or a small add-on. We confirm cost before proceeding.

How do I pay?

Remote mix: 30% deposit on confirmation, balance before final export. Consumer rights and withdrawal rules are in our terms and legal notice.
